a book behind the brand

Candide's muse is found in the pages of a book from one of the greatest philosopher of the Enlightenment period named Voltaire.  The satyrical novella 'Candide ou l'Optimisme' was published in 1759 and is considered to this day as one of the greatest literary achievements of Western literature.

The story of Candide, an innocent and impressionable young man living a sheltered life who painfully discovers the vicissitudes and hostilities of the world, and then comes to term with it, teaches us that even amid the greatest misfortunes, one should always pursue his ideals to reach a state of happiness.

Candide's famous conclusion at the end of the book "we must cultivate our garden" (to achieve happiness) strongly resonates with us as an inspirational philosophy.
